“Risk & Safety Management”

PJC sees Risk & Safety Management area as a key foundation to a safe and successful operation. Too often we see that an enterprise or business has had a focus in a particular area of the business and may miss or under assess another area/s.

When a business assesses it’s operations in the risk & safety management area they may be subjective to the point that it could inturn effect both the business viability and the health and safety of the workers and/or an innocent party or property.

To this end PJC has developed a structured approach of identification and assessment in these key risk and safety management foundation areas.

PJC, together with your team, can cover the working knowledge areas from across all your operations undertakings. The team can assess the business, identifying all the key areas and ranking them in a way that can enable a plan to be put in place.

A broad business snapshot plan can be developed to see that all operational areas are adequately assessed, prioritised and actioned.

This initial boarder based risk assessment is known as a Broad brush Risk Assessment (BBRA).

As part of this over arching BBRA an action plan should be developed to target the hot spots and see a focus on key areas or set up a further assessment process the specific assess and target the area in question and develop an adequate control plan for those possible risks noted.

A few good questions senior management or business owners should ask themselves is;

“Have we got an up to date documented BBRA of our full business operations that is working to maintain a safe and sustainable business not only financially but operationally?”

“Do we further specifically target those key areas that are identified in the BBRA adequately to an acceptable and timely level against industry best practice and legislated requirements that apply and are measured against?”

“Do we, those that are responsible to manage our business at the operational level actually get out to see what the happening in their business operations area frequently enough and provide quality management direction over the operations to which they are responsible for?”

“Do we adequately consult and communicate with our people and allow them to contribute to the safe and effective operation execution?”

“Are those directions, plans and procedures adequate, relevant and written suitable for there intended use and users as well as the being followed or reviewed and amended as required?”
